Each topic comprises an Introduction, Knowledge Check and one or more Learning Objectives for that topic. The learning objectives comprise an Overview, Activities, In Practice, and Resources (Note: Activity and In Practice sections are included in most but not all learning objectives).

When you open a topic you will go straight to the introduction. This provides a brief description of the topic and what it is about. At this point, navigate using the next button or the page icon found at the bottom right corner of the screen. Select the next button or the page icon to see the one or more learning objectives addressed in that topic.

The Knowledge Check quiz has been designed to identify if you are already familiar with the content, concepts and issues addressed in the topic. Generally you will answer two questions per learning objective. Successful completion of the knowledge check quiz equals successful completion of the topic. If you answer a question incorrectly you will go to the Learning Plan. From the Introduction select the next button or knowledge check to go to the knowledge check quiz.

When you answer a question correctly you will receive the feedback "That is correct". Successful completion of the knowledge check quiz equals successful completion of the topic. When you have completed all the questions correctly you will arrive at the Assessment Results screen. Your score will be shown and you will receive the message "Congratulations, you have answered all the questions correctly. You can close this topic and begin the next one." However, if you are interested to work through the topic you may do so.

If you answer a knowledge check question incorrectly you will receive the following feedback "That is incorrect". On completion of the quiz, you will arrive at the Assessment Results screen. Your score will be shown along with a comment that you are not yet competent in all the objectives. Select the next button to go to the Learning plan.

You can attempt the quiz up to 100 times. You can only retry the quiz once you have visited the prescribed learning objectives as outlined in the learning plan. When you return to the learning plan having completed all required learning objectives, you will see a button on the right screen saying "Try Again" . This will take you back to the knowledge check quiz and a different series of questions to be completed. Above the try again button you will see how many times you have attempted this quiz.

The Learning plan provides access to the learning objectives. If you roll the mouse over the learning objective title, a summary of the learning objective will appear on the right side of the screen. The eye icon appears next to learning objectives that need to be undertaken, ie ones for which you have answered incorrectly in the knowledge check and have not yet completed. The tick icon appears next to the learning objectives for which you have answered all the knowledge check questions correctly, or once you have entered that learning objective.

The content for each topic is organised into learning objectives. To see the full learning objective description and a summary of what is in it, go to the Learning Plan and roll your mouse over the title. Each learning objective comprises an Overview, Activities, In Practice and Resources (Note: Activity and an In Practice sections are included in most but not all learning objectives). Within a learning objective you can look at what is in each tab by selecting the tabs from the top of the screen. You can navigate within a tab using the next button or the page icon found at the bottom right corner of the screen. To return to the learning plan, select Return to Learning Plan found at the bottom of the screen.

The Overview provides background information about the concepts and issues. Each Overview section includes a reference screen. You enter a learning objective at screen 1 of the Overview.

When you select the activity tab you will go to the activity home page. You will see one or more activities listed on this screen (NB: Roll over the activity title for a brief description). When you select the activity you will notice that all the other tabs fade out. Navigate within the activity using the page icons or the forward and back buttons found at the base of the screen. To exit the activity, select the "Return to Learning Plan" button. This will return you to the activity menu.

In Practice provides workplace and practical examples and comment pertinent to the particular learning objective. They include audio, video and text based examples from mental health professionals, consumers. carers and other stakeholders.

Resources provides an annotated list of publications, links to websites and other documentation which directly relates to the learning objective.

There are three ways to navigate within a topic: 1. Use the next button to navigate in a linear way through the topic. This will take you to the next page and to the next tab; 2. Use the page icon to navigate within a tab; 3. Use the tabs at the top of the screen to go to different sections of the topic.

From March/April 2010, a learning support service will be in place as a central point of contact to support users and MHPOD coordinators. This would be an initial point of contact for any issue, whether technical, functional or content-related.

The MHPOD curriculum comprises a comprehensive list of learning objectives. Each topic contains the information, activities, In Practice tips or interviews, and resources for one or more of these objectives. The knowledge check quiz asks two questions per objective. If one or more is answered incorrectly you will see a message on the Assessment Results screen saying, for example, 'You scored 0/1 objectives' or 'You scored 1/2 objectives'. The Learning plan will indicate that you undertake the objective/s against which questions have been answered incorrectly. Once you have entered the objective you can try the knowledge check quiz again.
